Project Summary
Combine three different sets of wood & steel stables into a 12 stable barn.
Job Details
A very interesting project. The objective of the customer is to end up with a 12 Stable Barn located in an area where there are already stables in place. The project involves four core phases .
The first phase was to break down all the existing stables to make space for the planned barn.
The second phase included to items run concurrently. One team travelled to White River to go and dismantle a 6 stable barn stable for transportation to Gauteng whilst the other team prepared the earthworks in the cleared area where the new structure is to be erected.
The third phase will take care of erecting all the wall panel components to join the 6 stable barn with the existing 6 stables that were taken down. Thus creating two rows of 6 stables in the form of a barn.
The fourth phase will include building a new centre line roof joining the two rows of six stable to complete the structure in the form of a 12 stable barn. Lastly the roofing will be customized to fit the new structure.
Project Summary
Design and build of a fully functional hydroponic vegetable farm.
Job Details
A different type of project for our team...but a very interesting one to say the least. A successful business person approached us with request to design, build, and run a hydroponic vegetable farm as part of their business portfolio. At Rohan we have our own small hydroponic vegetable farm, so we were able to provide real life experience and confidently took on the project.
Phase 1 took care of the earthworks. We needed to build a 35m x 35m level with a 1m drop from one side to the other. The level plays a significant role when it comes to the widespan tunnel, fertigation, and water run-off installation. With a uniform flat level the widespan tunnel internal height is a consistent 2.7 throughout the tunnel, ensuring maximum upward growth availability. The uniform slope ensures a stable water run-off is achieved.
Phase 2 included building the Fertigation and Packhouse Structures. The Fertigation structure includes a pump house with pump stations, a reservoir, fertigation tanks, ventilated fertilizer storage room, and ventilated pest and disease management room (with related equipment). The Packhouse structure includes a wash-bay to wash harvested vegetables, a sorting station, a wrapping and packing area, and a dispatch area for distribution.
Phase 3 is where the actual widespan tunnel was installed.
